Default Suggest adding a resign and emote button.

Tried to change it to say "suggest" but didnt. so ignore the petition thing.

Resign button

We all know the scenario where your all/mostly dead and due to certain reasons no one can be ressed by the serviving players.

And you start asking/telling people to resign.

And then the typical happens....

...half of you resign, one of you keeps fighting, and the rest just seem to completely ignore the request to do so.

I suggest we have an actual "resign" button on screen.

Perhaps in the top left.

When a member of the team selects to resign, their name will apear bellow it in the box, in the form of a list. When someone joins them and resigns too, their name is added.

The advantages to this is;

1. Other players who ignore the chat window, cant ignore or miss that people want to resign, because a small window will apear at the top left (or elsewhere) listing names who want to.
2. Those who dont know what resign is, or are scared to type it, can now be reassured by a button.
3. Its alot more user-friendly then typing in code.
4. This would help make the resign option more widely known, or people would atleast ask what it was.

As with all interface options, you will be able to turn this off if you want.

But if you do turn if off, then when someone asks to resign, a message will apear instead saying "Members have resigned".

Emote button

I also suggest adding a menu which lists all the emotes you can do. It can be opened from inside the Menu bar at the bottom left, or using a short-cut key. It would be a semi-transparant menu which sits ontop of the the interface, as with the others.

Once open, it lists all the emotes as text or icons (like MSN or yahoo) and has a button to the right of the description saying "use", or you would simply select it.

This can be activated in cities, instances and missions. Any time you wish.

Advantages;

1. There are far too many emotes for everyone to remember. This would list them all and allow us to try them out and play with them alot easier.
2. Again, user friendly compared to codes.
3. It can make situations less frustrating - for instance the mission where you have to copy the NPCs actions, something which you cant do unless you know the emotes and your not a fast typer.
4. If new emotes are added, it can state "new" next to them for a short time.
5. There can be limits on how many times you can use a certain emote, or emotes within a given time.

Both of which can very easily be introduced and added. The creation of a new form on the screen and adding of a few buttons is very easily done.

This obviously isnt a priority, so Im not asking for such a thing to be introduced within days or months.

This is two very different suggestions in one, so I'll answer first only:

What about another line to the Party panel? It will be a button that shows:
0/8 resigned
it the button and turns into a 1/8 resigned.

(Please make another one for the emote panle so I can vote that I agree with it by rating the thread. :P)

I'd be a git and /notsign it purely on the basis that you put that stupid word in the thread title ("Petition"), but I'm not a git.

/signed. Good idea, which should have happened before Factions went live (and that includes the /resign emote as well)

Your idea about tacking the resign issue, doesnt take into consideration the wishes of the entire team.

The leader could end up being an absolute prat and end the mission.

It has to be a choice, but still make it clear to others that people want to resign.

Well... to know who used the button, just 'invet' their HP bar color.

From red to a pale green.

Then you'll know who resigned and who not.

A resign window wouldn't help, With everyone on comms you can scream and yell for 10 minutes before that last person will decide they feel like resigning.

I agree. How does a resign window helps except to clutter up the screen? Even if we had a resign windows, that last person would still have a choice to either listen or to ingore the resign window. That's called free will.

I don't think it would help at all. The people who refuse to resign are obviously doing so for their own gains or to annoy people. It is so blatantly obvious sometimes that everyone in the party has resigned except one, and everybody tells that one person to resign, and he ignores everyone.

I don't want more clutter on the screen, nor a button people might push to see what it does.

People dont know what resign is, because it hasnt been mentioned or explained anywhere to my knowledge.

We have to rely on word of mouth in GWs to learn about codes.

A button on screen, even if its just small at the top or on the player menu, would incourage people to ask "whats that".

They couldnt miss it or ignore it. People would get courious.

Its alot better then having absolutely nothing at all, other then a vague programming code which hardly anyone knows exists.

The same goes for the emotes. Their listed on the guildwars website, but thats hardly the best way to do it. Having to refere back to a website every 2 minutes to find them out.

If we had them listed, then people can learn them.

It would make a HUGE difference to have an actual resign function on the screen, in plain site, where people would see it.

Some people dont use /resign because they think if they type it, something big and bad will happen. A button would reasure them.
